Daimler Truck taps Innoviz for LiDAR

Press Release, 4 December 2025

Diving deeper into autonomous freight, Daimler Truck and its self-driving subsidiary Torc Robotics have picked Innoviz Technologies as their LiDAR partner for mass-production of Level-4 Class 8 semi-trucks. Innoviz will supply its high-performance short-range LiDAR sensor, InnovizTwo, which will be built into models such as the autonomous version of the Freightliner Cascadia. This collaboration marks a key milestone in bringing fully autonomous commercial trucks from concept to reality.

Under the partnership, Innoviz and Daimler/Torc will jointly refine and adapt the LiDAR system to meet the rigorous demands of heavy-duty trucking. The goal is to deploy these autonomous trucks across highway and regional routes in North America — combining Innoviz’s sensing technology with Torc’s “virtual driver” software to detect, classify, and track objects reliably, even under tough real-world conditions.

With InnovizTwo onboard, Daimler Truck aims to deliver commercial vehicles that offer enhanced operational efficiency, greater safety, and reduced driver workload — paving the way for a new era in logistics.
