Aptiv introduces Gen 8 radar platform to elevate vehicle sensing capabilities
Press Release, 23 October 2025
Aptiv PLC has launched its most advanced radar suite yet: the Gen 8 radars engineered to address the sophisticated demands of next-generation driver-assistance systems. Built on proprietary antenna and silicon technology, these radar units offer class-leading performance setting new benchmarks for detections, ranging and resolution in complex driving situations.
With front-facing and dual-mode corner radars designed for challenging real-world conditions, Gen 8 delivers over 300 m range with ultra-fine 4D angular resolution, significantly expanded vertical field of view and improved object classification. These capabilities enable vehicles to better perceive “over- and under-drivable” obstacles, handle urban clutter and parking structures, and deliver richer sensor data that feed machine-learning platforms for smarter vehicle perception. Aptiv frames this as a major step forward in supporting safe and scalable automation.
Moreover, the radar technology underpins the company’s PULSE sensor a fused radar-camera solution that may replace multiple ultrasonic sensors, simplifying system architecture and cutting costs. With over 25 years of radar innovation behind it, Aptiv is positioning Gen 8 not only for today’s advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) but also as a foundation for the software-defined vehicles of tomorrow—offering OEMs a compelling tool to scale capabilities across driving and parking environments.
This release underscores how radar sensing remains a critical pillar of vehicle autonomy, and how sensor fusion and advanced hardware-software integration are becoming key differentiators in mobility engineering.
