QWR and Kaynes partner to build India’s first end-to-end XR device manufacturing ecosystem
Press Release, 7 October 2025
In a major boost to India’s deep-tech and electronics manufacturing ambitions, QWR Interactive Solutions Pvt. Ltd. and Kaynes Technology India Ltd. have announced a strategic partnership to co-develop and manufacture the next generation of XR (Extended Reality) headsets and smart glasses entirely in India. The collaboration brings together QWR’s design and AI-driven wearable expertise with Kaynes’ large-scale electronics manufacturing capabilities, marking the creation of India’s first complete XR manufacturing ecosystem outside of China.
Under the partnership, QWR will serve as the Independent Design House (IDH) and Original Design Manufacturer (ODM), contributing its proprietary intellectual property, industrial designs, calibration protocols, and product lineup — including the VRone Pro, VRone Edu, and HUMBL AI Glasses. Kaynes will spearhead the production through newly established SMT and optical calibration lines, enabling large-scale manufacturing of AR/VR headsets and waveguide optics within India. This collaboration is expected to create over 1,000 skilled jobs by 2027, directly supporting India’s Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM) goals and advancing the country’s deep-tech workforce.
A key objective of the alliance is to reduce India’s dependency on imported XR components by 40–50%, positioning the nation as a global hub for XR exports. Beyond manufacturing, the partnership aims to empower sectors like defense, education, enterprise training, and industrial automation with locally built, AI-integrated spatial computing devices.
Suraj Aiar, Founder & CEO of QWR, stated, “With Kaynes, we’re giving India full-stack ownership of the XR value chain — from design to waveguides to device manufacturing. It’s time India leads the future of computing.” Himanshu Verma, Head of AI/XR at Kaynes, added that the collaboration will not only bring global-grade hardware to India but also foster a new generation of engineers in emerging technologies.
With a global AR/VR market projected to exceed $150 billion by 2030, this partnership positions India at the forefront of next-generation XR innovation, production, and export leadership.
