onsemi acquires Vcore Tech from Aura to boost AI data center power efficiency
Press Release, 25 September 2025
onsemi has struck a deal to buy the Vcore power technology and related intellectual property from Aura Semiconductor, a move aimed at strengthening its offerings for AI data centers. The acquisition, announced on September 23, 2025, will deepen onsemi’s power management portfolio, helping it serve everything from the grid input to the core processing units.
Sudhir Gopalswamy, group president of onsemi’s Intelligent Sensing and Analog & Mixed-Signal Group, says this acquisition reflects the company’s goal of solving the rising energy and efficiency demands posed by next-generation AI infrastructure. Through this, onsemi plans to deliver power solutions with higher density, better thermal performance, and improved efficiency letting data center racks compute more without hitting power or cooling limits.
The expanded tech stack will complement onsemi’s existing capabilities—such as solid state transformers, 800 VDC distribution systems, and high-core power delivery designs. Financially, the company expects little impact to its GAAP and non-GAAP earnings in the first fiscal year post-close, with gains (being accretive) kicking in afterward. The deal is expected to wrap up in Q4 of 2025, pending the usual regulatory and closing conditions.
