Innoviz unveils next-gen LiDAR sensor for safer autonomous driving
Press Release, 26 December 2025
Innoviz Technologies has introduced InnovizThree, its latest generation of automotive-grade LiDAR sensors designed to accelerate the adoption of autonomous driving and advanced perception systems. The new sensor stands out for its significantly smaller and lighter design, making it easier for carmakers to integrate LiDAR technology into vehicle interiors including behind the windshield or on the roof, offering greater flexibility in vehicle design.
Weighing around 600 grams and costing over 35 % less than its predecessor, InnovizThree delivers high-performance sensing while reducing power consumption for efficiency and quiet operation. According to Innoviz, it maintains strong long-range detection capabilities beyond 250 meters, which is crucial for accurate environment mapping in self-driving systems. A low-power mode running at approximately 13 W further supports seamless integration without added cabin noise, addressing a key challenge for automotive OEMs aiming for sleek, unobtrusive sensor setups.
Beyond traditional passenger vehicles, Innoviz highlights that the compact form and efficient operation of InnovizThree also make it suitable for a wider range of applications, such as robotics, drones, and other AI-enhanced platforms where size, weight, and power consumption are critical. CEO Omer Keilaf described the new sensor as the company’s answer to the automotive industry’s need for economically viable and scalable LiDAR performance that meets stringent safety and vision requirements.
Innoviz plans to showcase the InnovizThree at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, where live demonstrations will highlight its capabilities and installation options. This launch reflects ongoing progress in making reliable, high-resolution LiDAR sensing more accessible and practical for future mobility solutions from autonomous cars to intelligent machines that require precise real-world perception.
