IBM and BMW team up to accelerate connected car innovation

In a strategic move that helped shape the evolution of connected mobility, BMW Group partnered with IBM to explore new possibilities for cognitive, data-driven automotive experiences using IBM’s Watson IoT platform. The collaboration, announced at IBM’s Munich IoT headquarters, aimed to redefine how drivers interact with their vehicles — making cars more intuitive, personalized, and responsive than ever before.
Under the initiative, BMW engineers co-located at IBM’s Watson IoT HQ worked directly with data scientists to develop smart in-car systems capable of learning driver habits, predicting needs, and enabling seamless voice or gesture-based interactions.
