Mahindra has launched a new version of its electric SUV, called the BE 6 SPORTEQ, adding sportier looks, smarter technology and stronger performance to its popular BE 6 model.
The car will be offered in eight variants, from the base ONE to the top-end Launch Edition, giving buyers a wide range of choices, along with 12 colour options including four new shades.
Prices start at ₹11.45 lakh under Mahindra’s Battery as a Service (BaaS) plan, where buyers pay separately for the battery based on usage, working out to about ₹3.75 per km for someone driving 60 km a day. Buyers can also choose full battery ownership, with 59 kWh, 70 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs available depending on how much range they need.
The car’s biggest highlight is its technology. It gets a three-screen cockpit running across the dashboard, powered by Mahindra’s own AI system called MAIA, which offers six “TEQ Suites” of features. One of them, TEQ_Talk, is built using Google’s Gemini AI and can understand natural conversation, controlling over 100 functions and working with 48 apps. Another feature, TEQ_Play, lets passengers enjoy in-car karaoke and gaming, which Mahindra says makes it the first carmaker in India to offer this. There is also a custom drive-mode system with a drift mode, a personalised profile feature that recognises who is driving, stronger digital security including phone-based car keys, and a way to send personalised messages on the tailgate.
For buyers who want more performance, the Formula E-inspired version can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.44 seconds, drawing on technology from Mahindra’s Formula E racing team, which had a strong season with wins in Monaco and Tokyo.
Deliveries of the new BE 6 SPORTEQ begin on August 26, 2026, timed with Onam. Existing owners of the BE 6, XEV 9e and XEV 9S will also receive some of these new features through software updates starting January 2027, without needing to buy a new car.
