Hyundai showcases Hydrogen future with HTWO brand debut in Japan
18th March 2026
Hyundai Motor Group has taken a significant step in its clean mobility strategy by introducing its dedicated hydrogen brand, HTWO, in Japan at the H2 & FC EXPO. The debut highlights the company’s ambition to build a complete hydrogen ecosystem, covering everything from production and storage to real-world mobility applications. At the exhibition, Hyundai presented a wide portfolio of hydrogen technologies under the HTWO platform, positioning it as an open collaboration hub for partners, investments, and future innovation in the hydrogen space.
The showcase also featured the Japan-specific version of the all-new NEXO fuel cell electric vehicle, reinforcing Hyundai’s focus on hydrogen-powered mobility. The updated model includes a Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) function, enabling it to supply electricity to homes during emergencies an important feature for disaster-prone regions like Japan. Alongside the NEXO, Hyundai displayed a wide range of hydrogen solutions, including refueling infrastructure, fuel cell systems, commercial vehicles such as buses and trucks, and even concepts like hydrogen trams and automated charging systems.
By presenting technologies across the entire hydrogen value chain, Hyundai is signaling its intent to go beyond vehicles and become a comprehensive energy solutions provider. The company is also leveraging the global platform of the expo one of the largest gatherings for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies to strengthen partnerships and accelerate adoption of hydrogen as a viable alternative to conventional fuels.
Overall, the launch of HTWO in Japan underscores Hyundai’s long-term commitment to hydrogen as a key pillar of sustainable mobility. As the industry explores alternatives to battery electric vehicles, Hyundai is betting on hydrogen to play a crucial role, particularly in heavy-duty transport and long-range applications.
