Vista Equity Partners acquires Omnitracs for $800 million, plans expansion with Roadnet

Private equity firm Vista Equity Partners has completed an $800 million acquisition of fleet management and telematics company Omnitracs, marking a significant move in the transportation technology sector. The deal gives Vista full ownership of Omnitracs, a company widely known for its role in developing telematics solutions that help commercial fleets track vehicles, improve driver safety, and optimize operations. Originally part of Qualcomm Incorporated, Omnitracs has spent decades building technologies that support fleet connectivity, compliance management, and operational efficiency for transportation companies.
Alongside the acquisition, Omnitracs has also announced a plan to acquire Roadnet Technologies, a logistics software provider specializing in route planning, scheduling, and mobile resource management for private fleets. Roadnet will continue operating as an independent division within Omnitracs, allowing both businesses to maintain their existing brands and customer relationships while benefiting from shared resources and technology collaboration. The combination is expected to strengthen the companies’ ability to deliver integrated fleet and logistics solutions that improve operational visibility, routing efficiency, and supply-chain productivity.
The combined platform will serve nearly 3,800 customers and manage more than 500,000 vehicles across over 60 countries, making it one of the larger technology ecosystems in the commercial fleet management space. With Vista’s investment and operational expertise in enterprise software companies, the newly expanded organization aims to accelerate product innovation and expand its presence in the rapidly growing fleet and transportation technology market.
