Honda teams up with US startup Mythic
Press Release, 5 February 2026
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has unveiled plans to co-develop a next-generation system-on-a-chip (SoC) with U.S. semiconductor innovator Mythic, aimed at powering the advanced artificial intelligence (AI) and computing needs of future software-defined vehicles (SDVs). This strategic collaboration builds on Honda’s investment in Mythic a Texas-based company known for its analog computing technologies and brings together Honda’s automotive expertise with highly efficient AI processing capabilities to improve both performance and energy efficiency in vehicle computing systems.
As vehicles become more intelligent — integrating features like automated driving assistance, real-time decision making, and high-level connectivity — the demand for powerful yet energy-efficient computing solutions is skyrocketing. Honda’s move reflects this trend, as it looks to combine its in-house development of electronic control systems and AI models with Mythic’s analog compute-in-memory (CiM) technology. By minimizing the movement of data during processing, this approach can deliver faster AI performance using less energy, making it well-suited for use in next-generation SDVs.
Under the agreement, Honda R&D Co., Ltd., the company’s research arm, will work closely with Mythic to integrate its analog computing IP into custom SoC designs tailored for automotive use. This collaboration is part of Honda’s broader strategy to establish advanced digital computing platforms that support safety-critical functions, automated driving systems, and other AI-driven features — while also preparing for future technological shifts in the industry.
By investing in and co-developing pioneering computing solutions with a specialized semiconductor partner, Honda aims to strengthen its competitive edge as vehicles evolve into software-centric platforms. This alliance not only accelerates the timeline for SoC innovation but also reinforces Honda’s commitment to delivering smarter, more efficient mobility experiences in a rapidly transforming automotive landscape.
