Sterling Tools, China’s MINIEYE team up to localize ADAS for India’s roads
News, 21 January 2026
Indian auto components maker Sterling Tools Limited has inked a strategic partnership with Hong Kong-listed intelligent driving solutions company MINIEYE to bring advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and driver monitoring systems (DMS) to the Indian automotive market. This collaboration aims to tailor cutting-edge safety technologies for India’s unique driving environments from mixed traffic conditions and diverse road types to complex real-world scenarios ahead of mandatory safety norms set to take effect in 2027.
Under the memorandum of understanding, Sterling Tools will leverage its deep domestic manufacturing footprint and strong OEM relationships to support on-ground application engineering and perception tuning of MINIEYE’s ADAS/DMS technologies. Rather than simply transplanting global solutions, the partnership will focus on training systems with local data to ensure reliability in India’s varied traffic behaviors and road conditions. Systems targeted include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Forward Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Monitoring, and Driver Drowsiness & Attention Warning Systems (DDAWS) all expected to play a key role in the vehicle safety landscape as regulations tighten.
For Sterling Tools, traditionally known for automotive fasteners, this collaboration marks a significant step deeper into intelligent mobility and vehicle safety technologies, aligning with broader industry trends toward connected and autonomous features. MINIEYE, with its global experience and compliance credentials in intelligent driving and in-cabin systems, brings proven software-hardware stacks that meet international standards. Together, the companies aim to accelerate the adoption of advanced safety systems in both passenger and commercial vehicles across India, reinforcing the industry’s transition to smarter, safer mobility.
