Aptiv’s gen 6 ADAS platform set to power future trucks & buses in India

Press Release, 7 January 2026

Aptiv PLC has announced a major new deal with a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer in India to supply its Gen 6 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) for upcoming trucks and buses, marking the company’s first ADAS collaboration with an Indian OEM. This scalable, turn‑key safety solution is tailored to address the challenges of commercial vehicles from large blind spots and diverse powertrains to demanding road conditions while helping manufacturers meet upcoming 2027 safety regulations that require features such as automatic emergency braking, lane departure warnings, blind‑spot alerts, and pedestrian/obstacle detection.

The Gen 6 ADAS platform is designed to work across a wide range of vehicles, supporting 14 models and more than 30 variants from this OEM. At its core, the system combines Aptiv’s advanced Gen 8 radar and Gen 7 smart camera, enhanced with STRADVISION’s AI‑based vision technology tailored to local traffic scenarios including detection of three‑wheelers, large animals, cyclists, and road workers. By integrating these sensors with Aptiv’s modular ADAS software, which is already deployed in over 40 million vehicles globally, the platform delivers high‑performance perception and decision‑making capabilities while simplifying overall system complexity. It also supports over‑the‑air updates, enabling continuous feature enhancements and performance improvements throughout the vehicle lifecycle.

This collaboration reinforces Aptiv’s long‑term commitment to India’s rapidly growing commercial and passenger vehicle sectors. The company has been strengthening its local presence with investments such as a technical center and advanced manufacturing facility in Chennai, alongside a workforce of 2,500 engineers and over 13,000 employees across multiple sites in the country. Aptiv executives say the deal not only helps the OEM comply with evolving safety standards but also accelerates the adoption of advanced assisted driving technologies in one of the world’s fastest‑expanding mobility markets.
