HERE Technologies and Amazon team up to launch AI-powered conversational navigation at CES 2026
Press Release, 5 January 2026
HERE Technologies, a leader in digital mapping and location data, has partnered with Amazon to introduce a new generation of AI-powered in-vehicle navigation. The collaboration combines HERE Navigation with Amazon’s Alexa Custom Assistant (ACA), offering automakers a fully branded, conversational AI experience that redefines how drivers interact with their vehicles. The joint innovation will make its public debut at CES 2026.
The integrated system merges HERE’s precise mapping and real-time location intelligence with Alexa+’s natural language capabilities, enabling drivers to engage in intuitive, multi-layered conversations with their vehicle’s navigation system. For example, a driver could say, “Hey Assistant, navigate me to the Sphere in Las Vegas, then find me parking—and tell me what’s showing tonight,” and the system would understand and execute each part of the request seamlessly.
This collaboration allows automakers to design custom AI assistants that reflect their own brand identity while delivering a premium navigation experience. The technology offers a quick integration process, reducing time-to-market for manufacturers. Beyond simple route guidance, the system brings context-aware navigation, proactive trip planning, and real-time driver assistance, creating a more personalized and engaging in-car experience while keeping drivers focused on the road.
“We’re thrilled to work with HERE Technologies to make AI-powered navigation more accessible and customizable for automakers,” said Anes Hodzic, Vice President of Amazon Smart Vehicles. “By combining HERE’s trusted mapping with Alexa+’s conversational AI, we’re enabling OEMs to deliver premium, branded navigation experiences that drivers will love.”
Denise Doyle, Chief Product Officer at HERE Technologies, added, “By uniting HERE’s mapping expertise with Amazon’s next-gen AI, we’re redefining what in-vehicle navigation can be—simplifying development for automakers and enhancing experiences across every vehicle segment.”
Built with flexibility in mind, HERE Navigation supports both cloud and edge processing, ensuring privacy, cost efficiency, and optimal performance across passenger cars, commercial fleets, and trucks. Attendees can experience the new AI-driven navigation firsthand at HERE’s CES 2026 booth.
