Maruti Suzuki launches first-ever design challenge to nurture young automotive talent

Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country’s passenger vehicle leader, has successfully wrapped up its inaugural Maruti Suzuki Design Challenge, aimed at connecting young design talent with the automobile industry. The competition drew participation from over 400 students across 70 premier Indian and global design institutes, offering them a platform to reimagine mobility solutions and car design for the future.
After four rigorous evaluation rounds, the top three teams emerged from MIT Institute of Design (Pune), Association of Designers of India at VIT (Vellore), and Strate School of Design (Bengaluru). Winners received cash prizes and secured six-month internships with Maruti Suzuki’s professional design team, where they will contribute to future vehicle models. The next seven teams were also recognized with gift vouchers and potential internship opportunities after further evaluation.

The awards ceremony was conducted by Tatsuhiko Fujii, Senior Executive Officer Engineering, and Sandeep Raina, Executive Officer Product Planning, who presented trophies, cash prizes, and internship opportunities to the winning teams.
The Maruti Suzuki Design Challenge 2025 represents a key step in building a strong automotive design ecosystem and fostering collaboration with emerging talent. With plans to make this an annual event, Maruti Suzuki aims to continue nurturing young talent and staying ahead in an evolving mobility landscape.
