Marelli launches new R&D hub in Bengaluru

Press Release, 10 November 2025

Global mobility-technology supplier Marelli has opened a state-of-the-art Technical R&D Centre in Bengaluru, India, marking a significant expansion of its engineering and innovation capabilities. The new facility, located at the Embassy Manyata Tech Park, will work alongside Marelli’s existing engineering centre in Gurugram and is expected to grow the company’s Indian research team to over 1,600 professionals—about 600 of whom will be based in Bengaluru within the next two years.

At the heart of the new centre’s agenda is the development of next-generation automotive technologies spanning electronics, lighting systems, internal-combustion and electric powertrains. Key activities will include software development for cockpit domain controllers, digital clusters and electric-vehicle powertrain units; system-level validation for electronic and lighting systems; and mechanical-design simulation work.

Marelli’s Executive Chairman, Dinesh Paliwal, emphasized that this investment reflects India’s standing as a global innovation hub—“not investing for cost arbitrage, but for brain arbitrage, innovation and speed”. Meanwhile, Marelli India Electronics & Systems President Ravi Tallapragada highlighted that the Bengaluru centre, together with its Gurugram counterpart, will reinforce Marelli’s global network of R&D operations across Japan, Italy, China, Germany and the USA.

By tapping into India’s deep engineering talent and software ecosystem, Marelli aims to accelerate its development of software-defined vehicles, intelligent interiors and advanced driver-assistance systems—supporting both the local Indian market and its global customer base.
