WBSEDCL issues tender for EV charging & battery-swapping hubs across West Bengal

News, 7 November 2025

The West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (WBSEDCL) has issued a fresh call for bids to establish and operate electric-vehicle charging stations and battery-swapping centres across key locations in West Bengal. According to the tender, a total of 245 sites will be rolled out—160 on lands owned by WBSEDCL, 42 on plots of the West Bengal State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (WBSETCL), 32 on property from the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Ltd (WBTDCL) and the remaining 11 on other government-controlled lands. The stations will be built on a revenue-sharing model, where the government supplies land and electricity, and the private bidder bears the investment, installation and operations.

This initiative aligns with West Bengal’s ambition to strengthen its EV infrastructure and support a growing fleet of electric vehicles in line with national and global sustainability goals. Operators will manage both fast- and slow-charging capabilities along state and national highways as well as metropolitan and suburban areas—providing critical backbone infrastructure for e-mobility expansion. By inviting private participation on these 245 sites, the state takes a major step toward building out a robust, scalable EV ecosystem.
