RTI launches Connext Drive 4.0 for software-defined vehicle development

Press Release, 7 November 2025

Real‑Time Innovations (RTI) has unveiled Connext Drive 4.0—its next-generation communication framework designed to accelerate the development of Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). Built upon the open Data Distribution Service (DDS) standard, Connext Drive 4.0 combines an AI-enhanced toolchain with pre-integrated partner solutions to help OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers link legacy vehicle systems with modern zonal architectures, high-performance computing (HPC), edge-to-cloud connectivity and simulated environments.

The new release introduces a unified development environment that spans from simulation to production — enabling developers to cut down on custom code and instead focus on innovation and performance. Features include an embedded live chatbot “co-pilot” for real-time developer assistance, AI-driven configuration recommendations, and support for mixed-criticality applications with advanced safety and cybersecurity compliance (ISO 26262, ISO/SAE 21434) and PSK-based protection. Already in use across more than 25 automotive companies and over one million vehicles globally, Connext Drive 4.0 aims to bridge the gap between today’s hardware and tomorrow’s software architectures. Shipping begins on 20 November 2025.
