HERE Technologies and Amap Partner to Power AI-Driven navigation and digital cockpit Solution
Press Release, 3 November 2025
HERE Technologies, a leader in mapping and location data, has entered a strategic alliance with Amap, China’s leading navigation provider and a subsidiary of Alibaba Group, to co-develop next-generation AI-powered navigation and digital cockpit solutions for Chinese automotive brands. The partnership is designed to accelerate the rollout of software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and help Chinese automakers expand globally with advanced, intelligent in-vehicle experiences.
With over 222 million vehicles already equipped with HERE services and coverage across 200+ countries, HERE brings unmatched precision, scalability, and AI-driven mapmaking expertise to the alliance. Meanwhile, Amap’s deep integration in China’s automotive ecosystem and leadership in ADAS and connected cockpit innovation make it the ideal local partner. Together, they aim to deliver a global-ready navigation stack optimized for SDVs — capable of powering everything from EV services and automated driving to seamless over-the-air (OTA) updates.
At the heart of the collaboration lies HERE’s unified mapping architecture, which provides a single, automotive-grade data source for all in-vehicle functions. This allows automakers to unify navigation, safety, and connected services under one platform — reducing complexity while enhancing reliability and personalization.
Building on HERE’s two-decade presence in China, where it supports over 30 major automotive brands, the partnership reinforces the company’s commitment to enabling global mobility innovation. Amap and HERE plan to expand their cooperation beyond navigation into broader location-based services, supporting the rapid evolution of intelligent, connected mobility worldwide.
According to Deon Newman, SVP and GM of Asia Pacific at HERE Technologies, the alliance represents “world-class meeting world-class,” combining Amap’s dominance in China’s navigation ecosystem with HERE’s global mapping precision. Together, they’re setting a new standard for AI-driven, globally scalable automotive navigation.
