Lumax launches ‘SHIFT’ innovation hub in Bengaluru to drive software-defined vehicles

Lumax Auto Technologies Ltd. (LATL), a prominent Tier-1 supplier to India’s automotive sector, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art technology centre in Bengaluru — dubbed ‘Smart Hub for Innovation and Future Trends’ (SHIFT). The facility is designed to advance the company’s electronics, digital engineering and software-defined-vehicle (SDV) capabilities, aligning with the industry’s shift toward vehicles controlled and enabled by software.

SHIFT will focus on next-generation development across in-cabin systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), connectivity, embedded electronics and more. Equipped with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing labs, rapid prototyping and validation zones, the hub supports innovation from concept all the way to commercialization. The launch event included major OEMs such as Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Tata Motors Ltd., Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. and TVS Motor Company — underscoring the strategic importance of this opening in India’s mobility evolution.

Anmol Jain, Managing Director of Lumax Auto Technologies, described SHIFT as a cornerstone of the company’s “Tier 0.5 vision” — an ambition to move beyond traditional mechanical components to integrated electronic and digital systems. CTO Satish Sunderesan added that the centre is designed to “converge talent, technology and transformation” to engineer software-driven and digitally-enabled vehicles.

With the global SDV market predicted to grow rapidly, Lumax’s investment in SHIFT places it at the forefront of India’s transition to connected, intelligent mobility. By embedding advanced electronics and digital capabilities into its roadmap, the company is positioning itself to serve OEMs and mobility providers looking to deliver the next-generation vehicle experience.
