Lucid and NVIDIA partner to bring consumer-level “Eyes-Off” level 4 EV autonomy
Press Release, 30 October 2025
Lucid Group has announced a major collaborative push with NVIDIA to produce one of the world’s first consumer-owned electric vehicles (EVs) capable of full Level 4 autonomy—interpreted by the company as an “eyes-off, hands-off, mind-off” experience. The plan involves integrating NVIDIA’s DRIVE AV platform and dual DRIVE AGX Thor computers running the DriveOS operating system into upcoming mid-size Lucid models. These vehicles will include the sensor suite (cameras, radar, lidar) required to support high-autonomy driving scenarios.
In addition to the vehicle technology, Lucid is also applying NVIDIA’s Industrial AI and Omniverse tools to overhaul its manufacturing process. The automaker intends to use digital twins, real-time analytics, and intelligent robotics to create high-flexibility production lines—enabling faster model rollouts, lower costs, and improved quality. The roadmap begins with enhanced driver-assistance (L2++) systems on current models like the Lucid Gravity SUV and will evolve toward full Level 4 autonomy in future midsize cars. While this ambitious goal sets a high bar, it underlines Lucid’s commitment to turning its EVs into autonomous, software-defined mobility platforms and offering consumers a vehicle experience that shifts dramatically from today’s standard.
