Arm and Geely power the EX5 with software-defined intelligence
Press Release, 29 October 2025
In a bold step forward for intelligent mobility, Arm Holdings plc and Geely EX5 have teamed up to deliver a vehicle platform defined by software rather than hardware. At its core lies the SiEngine StarEagle (SE1000) SoC built on Arm’s Automotive Enhanced (AE) architecture, which combines multiple processor cores, a safety island rated ASIL-D, and high-fidelity graphics and vision capabilities.
This collaboration empowers the EX5 with several smart features — from seamless multi-screen infotainment and multilingual voice interaction to intelligent park-assist and in-vehicle camera-based functions. The software-driven approach means Geely’s electric SUV can be upgraded over-the-air, adapt to new features and evolve long after it’s delivered. By leveraging Arm’s compute platform, Geely is positioning the EX5 as more than just a vehicle: it becomes a continuously improving digital companion on wheels.
With this announcement, the automotive industry sees a clear shift: vehicles being conceived as software-defined systems, underpinned by advanced compute hardware and an ecosystem built around safety, security, and flexibility. The EX5’s launch marks a significant moment in how automakers and chip-makers collaborate to bring more capable, adaptable cars to market.
