Nauto enhances driver safety by faster distraction detection

Press Release, 23 October 2025

Nauto, a leader in AI-powered fleet safety solutions, has introduced a groundbreaking technology that significantly improves driver safety by detecting distractions earlier than traditional systems. This advancement is particularly crucial for commercial fleets, where timely alerts can prevent accidents and reduce costs.

The new system utilizes Nauto’s Predictive Risk Fusion technology, which combines in-cab monitoring and external hazard detection to provide real-time collision alerts. By assessing driver behavior, vehicle movement, traffic elements, and contextual data, the system can identify imminent collisions and alert drivers with context, potentially providing up to twice the reaction time compared to traditional forward collision warning systems. This is especially beneficial in scenarios where drivers are distracted, as the system delivers alerts more promptly, giving them additional time to respond and avoid potential collisions.

A recent study conducted by the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI) demonstrated the effectiveness of Nauto’s technology. The study found that in two out of three daytime test scenarios, Nauto delivered faster alerts to distracted drivers compared to attentive drivers, providing them with more time to react and avoid a collision. These multi-factor alerts, calculated in milliseconds, can offer critical road distance for collision avoidance, particularly in distraction scenarios where time is most limited.

This innovation marks a significant step forward in enhancing driver safety, especially in environments where distractions are prevalent. By providing earlier and more context-aware alerts, Nauto’s technology empowers drivers to take timely actions, thereby reducing the likelihood of accidents and improving overall road safety.
