Cox Automotive unveils online car buying platform
Press Release, 23 October 2025
Cox Automotive has introduced the automotive industry’s first comprehensive omnichannel digital retailing platform, enabling consumers to complete vehicle purchases seamlessly across multiple digital channels. This innovative platform integrates e-commerce capabilities on dealership websites with in-store experiences and extends to third-party marketplaces like Autotrader and Kelley Blue Book. It offers a unified buying journey, encompassing vehicle selection, financing, trade-in valuations, and digital contracting, all within a single platform.
According to Cox Automotive’s 2025 Digitization of Car Buying Study, 65% of car buyers engage in some or all of the purchasing process online. This omnichannel approach is crucial for maintaining sales volumes and market share, especially amid challenges such as high new vehicle prices, limited affordability, and tightening used-car supply.
Jessica Stafford, Senior Vice President of Consumer Solutions at Cox Automotive, emphasized, “We’ve built the omnichannel platform the automotive industry has been waiting for. This isn’t just website software or a marketplace listing service; it’s a true e-commerce platform that handles the complexity of the entire car-buying transaction across every digital touchpoint and in-store.”
This advancement positions Cox Automotive at the forefront of digital transformation in the automotive retail sector, offering a seamless and efficient car-buying experience for both consumers and dealers.
