Sona Comstar teams with NEURA Robotics to build India’s next-gen humanoids
News, 13 October 2025
In a bold move beyond its auto components roots, Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Germany’s NEURA Robotics GmbH to co-develop advanced robotics and humanoid systems.
Under this collaboration, the two firms will work on designing critical components, sub-assemblies, and solutions for both industrial robots and humanoid machines — with a special focus on “Made in India” robotics for India and other strategic markets.
Sona Comstar, known across the mobility and EV supply chain for motors, inverters, and drivetrain systems, aims to leverage its engineering and manufacturing strength to break into intelligent automation.
For its part, NEURA Robotics brings its pioneering cognitive robotics platform — robots that can sense, decide, and act more autonomously — into the mix. Their combined ambition: industrialize and scale humanoid solutions that can perform complex, repetitive tasks reliably, boosting productivity and flexibility in manufacturing.
Commenting on the MoU, Vivek Vikram Singh (MD & CEO, Sona Comstar) said the partnership aligns with the company’s ambition to expand beyond traditional automotive domains into broader intelligent systems.
Meanwhile, David Reger, CEO of NEURA Robotics, noted that this alliance marks a convergence of mobility innovation and robotics engineering — a synergy aimed at pushing the boundaries of scalable automation.
This development signals more than just a corporate tie-up — it points to a future where Indian manufacturing might host advanced robot making, bridging automotive domain know-how with cognitive AI capabilities. Expect this alliance to reshape how we think about robots in industries, logistics, and beyond.
