Tata Motors & ThunderPlus launch 5,000 fast-charging stations for commercial EVs
News, 13 October 2025
In a high-impact strategic move, ThunderPlus and Tata Motors have inked a MoU to deploy 5,000 public fast-charging stations across India, targeting the small commercial vehicle (SCV) and logistics fleet segment.
The rollout will focus on Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities in states like Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, West Bengal, Bihar, and Maharashtra, with charging hubs strategically placed at logistics parks and freight terminals. Each station will offer fast-charging capability along with digital connectivity for real-time monitoring and energy management.
Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus, described the partnership as a pivotal step toward “a robust, accessible charging ecosystem for commercial fleets,” enabling fleet operators to adopt EVs with confidence. For Tata Motors, which has been accelerating its push into electric commercial vehicles, this infrastructure injection will strengthen the EV ecosystem in sync with its electrification ambitions.
The timing is critical. As India’s logistics and last-mile delivery sectors gear up for electrification, one of the key blockers has been charging accessibility and downtime concerns. This partnership directly addresses that gap.
By combining ThunderPlus’s charging technology expertise with Tata’s deep industry reach, this collaboration has the potential to reshape expectations around fleet electrification in India — improving uptime, reducing range anxiety, and making EV logistics more economically viable.
