ZF India wins order for heavy-duty clutch system from commercial vehicle OEM

ZF India Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of the global technology company ZF Group, has secured a significant business nomination from one of India’s top commercial vehicle manufacturers to supply its locally developed 430mm heavy-duty clutch system. Specially designed for India’s demanding operating conditions and high-performance engines, the system reinforces ZF’s leadership in advanced driveline solutions customized for the Indian market.

The agreement, finalized in May 2025, includes the delivery of several thousand units, with production set to begin in mid-2026 at ZF’s Chakan plant in Pune. This milestone highlights ZF’s ongoing localization strategy and its commitment to strengthening India’s role as a global manufacturing hub for commercial vehicle technologies.

According to Akash Passey, President – Region India, ZF Group, the win underscores ZF’s “strategic focus on localization and innovation,” combining global expertise with strong local production capabilities. Paramjit Singh Chadha, Senior Vice President of ZF’s Commercial Vehicle Solutions (CVS) Division in India, added that the 430mm clutch system offers superior durability, enhanced driver comfort, and future-ready compatibility with both manual and automated manual transmissions (AMT).

Key performance benefits of the clutch include 20% longer life due to advanced lining materials, optimized clutch load for fatigue-free driving, and improved operational efficiency, reducing maintenance and downtime for fleet operators. By localizing production, ZF is also contributing to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, supporting both domestic and export markets with cutting-edge, sustainable mobility solutions.

With this development, ZF continues to advance its vision for smart, efficient, and low-emission commercial transport, strengthening India’s position in the company’s global supply network. The new clutch system is set to redefine performance standards in the heavy-duty segment, helping OEMs and fleets lower total ownership costs while enhancing vehicle reliability and comfort.
