Bosch adds real-time road surface alerts to its connected vehicle suite

Bosch has announced that it is integrating NIRA Dynamics’ Road Surface Alerts into its connected vehicle services, elevating how drivers receive warnings about slippery roads, potholes, aquaplaning risk and sudden grip changes. The new alerts rely on aggregated, anonymized data from millions of vehicles specifically monitoring how tires interact with road surfaces — to detect changes in grip, roughness, or road anomalies. That data is processed in real time, and drivers receive timely, high-resolution warnings through Bosch’s existing systems.

This upgrade will first roll out in Europe and North America, adding another layer to Bosch’s capability in predictive safety and real-world road awareness. By combining traditional traffic, weather and hazard information with these road quality alerts, Bosch aims to help drivers anticipate dangers earlier and adjust their driving accordingly. The move also marks a deeper partnership between Bosch and NIRA Dynamics — a Swedish company whose tech is already installed in more than 100 million vehicles.
