MapmyIndia’s Mappls app introduces AI traffic timers and toll savings in India
Press Release, 25 September 2025
MapmyIndia’s flagship navigation platform, Mappls, has rolled out three first-of-their-kind features in India aimed at making road travel smarter and more efficient. The app now offers AI-powered live traffic signal timers in partnership with Bengaluru Traffic Police and Arcadis, as well as NHAI annual toll pass savings and toll road distance tracking in collaboration with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). These innovations, currently live on iOS and coming soon to Android, promise to reduce travel stress, save money, and improve commuting efficiency for millions of users.

With the AI-powered signal timers, drivers in Bengaluru can now see real-time countdowns for over 125 smart traffic signals up to 500 meters in advance, helping them anticipate delays, plan better, and reduce uncertainty on the road. This marks the first time such live signal updates are available within a navigation app in India, with plans to expand the service to other cities. At the same time, the toll-related features add transparency and savings for highway travelers. Before starting a trip, commuters can view potential cost benefits from the NHAI annual toll pass directly in the app, making it easier to plan budget-friendly routes. Additionally, users can track the exact kilometers covered on toll roads, giving them more clarity on their travel expenditure.
According to MapmyIndia Co-Founder Rakesh Verma, the initiative reflects the company’s vision to create a safer and smarter mobility ecosystem for India. Bengaluru Traffic Police and NHAI officials also highlighted the importance of technology-led solutions in easing congestion, improving road discipline, and offering greater cost transparency to drivers. By combining live traffic intelligence with practical cost-saving tools, MapmyIndia’s Mappls app is redefining digital navigation in India and setting new benchmarks in smart mobility.
