Mitsubishi teams up with AMS and Intelematics to launch connected safety services in Australia

Press Release, 24 September 2025

Australian Motoring Services (AMS), a joint venture of the country’s leading motoring clubs, has partnered with Mitsubishi Motors Australia and Intelematics to bring advanced connected vehicle safety features to local drivers. The collaboration debuts with the 2025 Mitsubishi Outlander SUV, combining in-car technology with AMS’s 24/7 human support network to improve driver safety and peace of mind.

The Outlander is now equipped with a suite of connected services designed to protect drivers and passengers in emergencies. Among the highlights is eCall, an SOS function that automatically notifies AMS responders and emergency services after a crash, even if the driver is unable to make the call. Other features include Stolen Vehicle Tracking, which helps recover vehicles faster, and iCall, a direct line for non-emergency roadside assistance and customer support. Already credited with saving lives in Europe, eCall is being considered for integration into Australia’s ANCAP five-star safety rating, highlighting its potential to reduce response times during accidents.

For a country where long-distance travel and remote driving are common, the ability to instantly share a vehicle’s location and crash details with first responders could prove life-saving. AMS CEO Rebecca Stenhouse said the partnership blends smart technology with decades of roadside expertise, ensuring support is always available. Mitsubishi’s Product Strategy chief, Bruce Hampel, emphasized the brand’s ongoing commitment to safety innovation, while Intelematics highlighted its role in connecting more than 850,000 vehicles nationwide.

The 2025 Outlander is the first Mitsubishi model to launch with these connected safety services, with the upcoming Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) also set to benefit. As Mitsubishi marks its 45th year in Australia, the initiative signals a wider industry trend toward smarter, safer, and more connected vehicles—bridging technology, trust, and human support for drivers across the country.
