Fujifilm Electronic Materials to setup semiconductor facility in Dholera

India. 9 September 2025

In a significant strategic move, Fujifilm Electronic Materials—a Japanese powerhouse in semiconductor supply chains—announced early this month its plans to establish large-scale manufacturing at Dholera, Gujarat.

During the recent Semicon India 2025 event, Tetsuya Iwasaki, General Manager of Fujifilm Electronic Materials Business Division, confirmed the company is weighing multiple investment models. These include building and operating its own plant, licensing production to Indian firms, or forming a joint venture with established semiconductor players.

Fujifilm’s interest underscores its confidence in India’s burgeoning semiconductor sector, fueled by the country’s growing demand for chips across automotive, electronics, data centers, and module packaging industries. Iwasaki emphasized India’s technological capabilities and skilled talent base, positioning the nation as an emerging manufacturing hub.

If launched, the Dholera facility could catalyze local semiconductor manufacturing, aligning with India’s ambition to bolster its role in the global chip ecosystem.
