Cerence and Microsoft Team up to bring voice assistant for vehicles

GlobeNewswire. 9 September 2025

At IAA Mobility 2025Cerence showcased a voice-first mobile work AI agent, developed in collaboration with Microsoft. Built on the Cerence xUI™ platform, the new assistant integrates Microsoft 365 Copilot, enabling drivers to access tools like TeamsOutlook, and OneNote—completely hands-free.

This smart assistant adapts dynamically: it recognizes whether the vehicle is in motion, parked, or in autonomous mode, and adjusts its behavior to reduce distraction. Need to draft a message, schedule a meeting, or review your day’s agenda? Just say the word. It can even blend with navigation, offering proactive route suggestions based on your calendar.

Designed with enterprise needs in mind, the system links with Microsoft Intune, meaning cars can function as secure, managed endpoints within company networks. For automakers, this translates into a unique selling point—bringing productivity into the cabin safely.

Behind the scenes, Cerence showcased its broader xUI ecosystem, including CaLLM™ Edge, an embedded small language model optimized for low-latency, hardware-agnostic performance, supported by partners like SiMa.aiMediaTek, and NVIDIA.
