L&T Semiconductor acquires power module design assets from Fujitsu General Electronics

L&T Semiconductor Technologies Ltd (LTSCT)—a wholly owned subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro—completed the acquisition of power module design assets from Fujitsu General Electronics Limited (FGEL) of Japan, marking a significant stride in its strategic growth Larsen & Toubro.

Under this agreement, LTSCT has secured critical design patentsintellectual property, and R&D equipment associated with FGEL’s advanced power module technologies. This acquisition is poised to fast-track LTSCT’s capabilities in power electronics design, enabling the company to broaden its product portfolio—particularly in the industrialenergy, and automotive sectors.

LTSCT CEO Sandeep Kumar described the acquisition as a pivotal milestone. He emphasized its importance in augmenting India’s role within the global semiconductor landscape, stating that the deal “significantly strengthens our global intellectual property portfolio, and enhances our design capabilities,” thereby reinforcing LTSCT’s mission to deliver “world-class semiconductor solutions globally”.

Echoing this sentiment, Tadashi Hasegawa, Director & COO of Fujitsu General, expressed confidence in the transfer: “We are pleased to see our power module business become a part of LTSCT … this transfer will ensure the continued development and expansion of cutting-edge power module technologies, benefiting global customers and driving industry-wide advancements”.
