Vector introduces SDx Cloud: A scalable platform for software-defined systems
Press Release, 9 September 2025
Vector has unveiled SDx Cloud, a new platform designed to make it easier to develop and operate modern software-defined systems. It simplifies the growing complexity of system design and development—stretching from vehicle control units (ECUs) all the way up to the cloud.
With this launch, Vector brings its trusted embedded software expertise into the cloud, expanding beyond automotive applications. The platform supports seamless integration with cloud services—a move that broadens its use across various industries.
One of SDx Cloud’s key strengths is its deep integration with MICROSAR Connect, Vector’s embedded software for connected vehicle features. This makes development simpler compared to general-purpose IoT platforms. OEMs benefit from a flexible setup that not only integrates existing Vector tools but also supports the creation of custom connected services—either in-house or with partners.
SDx Cloud combines embedded systems with cloud components to offer several powerful capabilities:
- Over-the-air software updates for reliable delivery of new features.
- Remote diagnostics via SOVD for faster issue detection and fixes.
- Vehicle-to-cloud communication, enabling real-time data exchange and control.
- Intrusion detection to enhance cybersecurity.
- Device and service management for scalable orchestration.
For automotive use cases, Vector offers a version called SDV Cloud, optimized for secure, reliable data exchange between vehicles and the cloud. It works smoothly across different hardware and network configurations, adhering to strict automotive standards.
SDx Cloud was developed over the past two years (starting in 2023) within a specialized product unit at Vector. Its modular design and use of hyper-scaler technologies position it to support the next generation of software-defined systems across various fields.
