RIR Electronics to invest ₹6.18 billion in silicon carbide semiconductor plant in Odisha

RIR Electronics will set up a ₹618 crore silicon carbide semiconductor manufacturing facility in Odisha, a senior company executive said. The project marks a significant step in strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem and supporting the country’s push for advanced electronics and electric mobility.
The upcoming facility will focus on producing silicon carbide (SiC) chips, which are critical for high-efficiency power electronics used in electric vehicles, renewable energy, aerospace, and industrial applications.
Company officials said the investment will generate employment opportunities in the region and help reduce India’s dependence on imported semiconductors. The project is expected to come up under the government’s incentive schemes aimed at boosting domestic semiconductor production.
