LeafyBus secures $4.1M to scale Delhi’s intercity EV bus operations
News, 4 September 2025
Delhi-based intercity electric bus operator LeafyBus has raised USD 4.1 million in Pre-Series A funding from Enetra EV, backed by Singapore-based Impact Capital Asia Management (ICAM). The funds will be used to expand its fleet of electric buses and strengthen operational capacity.
Founded in 2023 by Rohan Dewan and Animesh Sharma, LeafyBus currently operates intercity services within a 300-kilometre radius of Delhi, covering destinations such as Dehradun and Agra. The company follows a hybrid ownership model, directly holding 20–25% of its fleet while leasing the rest. Over the next two years, it plans to add 100 electric buses and extend services to cities including Chandigarh and Jaipur.
LeafyBus is positioning itself as the only operator running long-distance EV buses powered by 360 kW fast-charging stations. Its existing fleet is sourced from JBM and Azad India Mobility, with plans to onboard vehicles from Tata and Eicher to increase capacity. The company projects a turnover of INR 75–80 crore by FY 2025–26. Competitors include NueGo, RedBus, Fresh Bus, Yolobus, ZingBus, and FlixBus.
India’s electric bus market is witnessing rapid growth, with sales surging 81% year-on-year in FY24. The sector is expected to more than double in size, from USD 1.17 billion in 2025 to USD 2.48 billion by 2029. Government support through schemes like FAME II, along with state-level EV incentives, continues to accelerate adoption.
