In a strategic leap forward, Pavna Industries, a automotive component maker in India, has entered into an 80:20 joint venture with Taiwan’s SmartChip Microelectronic Corporation (SMC). This collaboration aims to accelerate the production of cutting-edge EV components and electronic locks, catering across automotive and non-automotive sectors. The partnership combines Pavna’s operational strength with SMC’s advanced electronics R&D, positioning India as a growing hub for EV innovation.
This joint venture is set to manufacture an array of electronic components—from motor controllers, throttle bodies, dashboards for 2W/3W vehicles, and EV charging modules, to e-lock systems for residential, commercial, aerospace, and medical sectors. The collaboration aims not only to fuel domestic demand but also to explore export-ready, tech-forward solutions.
A quote from Pavna’s Managing Director, Swapnil Jain, encapsulates the vision:
“By merging Pavna’s manufacturing and market capabilities with SMC’s state-of-the-art electronics knowledge, we expect to speed up the penetration of EV technologies in India as well as grow into new high-growth markets.”.
This JV reflects a broader shift in India’s automotive industry—moving toward localized EV electronics manufacturingand reducing import dependence. With Pavna’s strong supply chain and SMC’s technical edge, the collaboration could become a gamechanger in powering India’s sustainable mobility journey.
