Mobileye DMS, a new in-cabin system to monitor the driver

News, 21 July 2025

Mobileye has created a driver monitoring system by leveraging its proficiency in AI-driven computer vision and ADAS technologies.

Mobileye DMS is an in-cabin system that uses an infrared camera and AI-powered computer vision to continuously monitor the driver. It tracks eye movement, gaze, blinking speed, and other facial cues to detect signs of drowsiness, distraction (e.g., phone use), and impaired driving.

Key Features and Technology

A significant differentiator is Mobileye’s strategy to fuse its DMS directly with its existing ADAS on a single EyeQ™ System-on-Chip (SoC). This integration simplifies development, reduces costs for automakers, and allows for synergistic interactions between the in-cabin monitoring and external road perception.

Unlike standalone DMS solutions, Mobileye DMS can cross-reference the driver’s gaze with real-time road conditions captured by external ADAS cameras. This allows it to assess whether the driver has noticed critical objects or vulnerable road users (pedestrians, cyclists) and adjust the vehicle’s response accordingly, potentially mitigating abrupt interventions.

It can leverage different Mobileye EyeQ™ SoCs (like EyeQ™6 Lite or EyeQ™6 High) and various camera options, making it a scalable solution for a wide range of vehicle programs
