Hydrogen fuel cell truck drives nearly 3000 kms without refill
Hydrogen-fuelled truck breaks world record to shine light on future of transportation.
Accelera hydrogen fuel cell powered truck on 25 October 2024, has set a new world record for the most distance traveled without refueling, marking a milestone for environmentally friendly transportation. In Sacramento, California, USA, Accelera by Cummins accomplished this remarkable 2,906.47 km (1,806 miles) voyage.
Accelera’s zero-emissions H2Rescue truck, a Kenworth T370 prototype built for emergency response operations, is the vehicle that broke the record. This about 33,000-pound Class 7 heavy-duty truck is the result of a major partnership between Accelera, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and the Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
With this accomplishment, Accelera demonstrates the exciting possibilities of hydrogen technology for portable electricity and zero-emission vehicles.
