Constructor University & BMW Hackathon draws record-breaking interest.
Press Release, 27 November 2024
Legacy automotive brand BMW is partnering with Bremen, Germany’s Constructor University for an exclusive Hackathon—with the winning team set to put their career into overdrive. The event, the first of its kind in Germany, surpassed expectations, completely filling up shortly after the registration phase began.
From November 29 to December 1, a team of BMW experts will be on hand to guide some 200+ Constructor University students during the Causal Machine Learning hackathon. The Hackathon offers a unique opportunity to tackle real-world challenges using advanced analytics and causal machine learning techniques for a leading global player in the automotive sector: BMW. The event is further proof of CU’s dedication to advancing the local education and economic landscape of Bremen through its continued outreach beyond the academic sector.
In teams of up to 4, participants will work closely with BMW experts and Constructor University faculty (supported by “INDEED – Data Driven Collaborative Decision Making in Complex Industrial Systems”) for the duration of the event. Although primarily geared towards Computer Science, IT and engineering students, anyone with an interest in programming was permitted to apply. After reaching the finish line on December 1, the winner’s circle will be announced the next day as submissions are presented and judged on December 2—and the grand prize will be awarded—a chance to interview directly with BMW and skip the technical screening process. Furthermore, the winners will receive a personalized letter of recommendation on BMW letterhead and be featured on BMW Group’s official social media platforms, including LinkedIn and Facebook, with a combined reach of over 3 million followers.
