Date: April 25, 2024. — HL Klemove, a South Korean car parts manufacturer, develops technology for driver assistance systems and eco-friendly vehicles, announced the inauguration of its first local Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS) Radar Manufacturing Unit in India. The event took place at the company’s Chennai plant and is a landmark achievement in the “Make in India” initiative.
The inauguration was graced by the presence of Mr. Vinod Sahay, President and CPO of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., and Dr. Pal Joo Yoon, CEO of HL Klemove Corporation. Moreover, this step makes HL Klemove the first company in India to localize the manufacturing of ADAS Radar systems.
Dr. Pal Joo Yoon remarked on the journey of HL Klemove in India, which began in 2018 with the introduction of an India-specific ADAS solution. He highlighted the collaborative efforts of the R&D Engineers at the India Tech Center (ITC), who work closely with the Global R&D Center in Korea to enhance the ADAS solution tailored for India.
The CEO expressed his strong belief that the localization of Radar manufacturing at their India plant would greatly enhance the application of ADAS in India. He emphasized that this move aligns with the Government of India’s “Make in India” initiative and that the Indian facility will possess state-of-the-art capabilities akin to their Korean production facilities.
Dr. Yoon also addressed the complexity of Indian road scenarios and how they have meticulously incorporated these unique challenges into their product development process. Moreover, the solutions developed are custom-made for the Indian market, ensuring optimal performance and safety.
HL Klemove commits to introducing more localized solutions in the future, such as ADAS Front Camera Modules (FCM). With a robust business pipeline in the Indian ADAS market. The company supplies Acoustic Vehicle Alert Systems (AVAS) designed for electric vehicles (EVs) from its Chennai Plant. Additionally, it provides other chassis electronic components.
