Intangles revs up fleet efficiency with AI-powered DPF solution
Date: March 5, 2024. — Intangles, a company that uses AI and data analytics to improve fleet maintenance. Their technology helps track vehicle health, predict issues, and optimize maintenance schedules, ultimately leading to reduced costs, improved efficiency, and a cleaner environment. It has launched a new feature that helps fleets monitor and improve the performance of their Diesel Particulate Filters (DPFs). This technology leverages artificial intelligence and digital twin technology to empower fleet managers with real-time insights and proactive maintenance strategies, ultimately reducing costs and improving environmental sustainability.
DPFs are devices that capture and remove soot particles from the exhaust gas of diesel engines, reducing harmful emissions and improving air quality. However, DPFs need to be periodically cleaned by a process called regeneration, which burns off the accumulated soot. Moreover, improper or infrequent regeneration can cause the DPF to clog and lead to engine problems, including power loss, increased fuel consumption, and reduced lifespan.
Intangles’ new feature was introduced at the American Trucking Associations Technology Maintenance Council’s Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition. It employs digital twin technology to generate a cloud-based virtual clone of a vehicle’s DPF. The digital twin can model how the DPF will react to various driving and environmental conditions. These conditions include cold weather, idling, and stop-start traffic. Moreover, based on this, the function can provide real-time information about the proportion of soot in the DPF. It also offers insights into the quality of each regeneration, the effect of inefficient regeneration on fuel efficiency and engine performance, and the best time and manner for forced regeneration.
According to Intangles, the feature can save fleets time and money by eliminating DPF issues. It also maximizes fuel efficiency, improves engine performance, and extends the vehicle’s life. The feature is part of Intangle’s predictive maintenance platform. Moreover, it supports over 2,000 engine combinations and uses physics-based AI to detect and diagnose probable defects in car components.
Intangles’ DPF solution is now available for the majority of the makes and models that the company serves worldwide. They have plans to add more in the coming months.
