Altair & IIT Madras partner for eMobility simulation lab
CHENNAI, 17th Jan 2024]– Altair is excited to announce its collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras to establish an eMobility simulation lab on the institute’s premises. This collaboration underscores Altair’s commitment to advancing research and development in the field of electric vehicles (EVs). It aligns with its commitment to sustainability and innovation.
Altair will facilitate the provision of Altair® HyperWorks® and the requisite compute infrastructure backbone. This will support the operation of Altair simulation codes. The eMobility Simulation lab, established in the Department of Engineering Design at IIT Madras, intends to use it. Moreover, this support is integral to empowering startups, researchers, and students. It provides them with cutting-edge tools and resources to further the study and development of EVs. The creation of the eMobility simulation lab at IIT Madras represents a pivotal stride in advancing research within the EV domain. It also advocates for sustainable transportation solutions.
Welcoming the launch of this new facility, Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras, said, “The Government’s focus on eMobility and the anticipated rapid expansion of the market necessitate IIT Madras to play a role in the academic space. The eMobility-related initiatives in Academic Programs, Research, and Policy are all managed and offered with multiple Departments contributing. Moreover, the Department of Engineering Design acts as the nodal department.”
“We are thrilled to join forces with IIT Madras in this endeavour, turning this forward-thinking initiative into reality,” said Vishwanath Rao, Managing Director, Altair. “In the rapidly evolving landscape of technology, Altair stands at the forefront of convergence by integrating cutting-edge technologies. We commit to creating solutions that converge technologies seamlessly for transformative outcomes. Whether it’s the fusion of artificial intelligence with simulation, the synergy between cloud computing and design optimization, or the harmonious collaboration between data analytics and engineering. And this will also extend to the e-mobility lab at IITM.”
Prof. V. Kamakoti added, “In the coming years, we will be seeing a cluster of initiatives, facilities, and programs in eMobility from IIT Madras. We aim to equip industry and government through our efforts. Moreover, they seek to address the challenges in ramping up the market for electric vehicles (EVs).”
Commenting on the partnership with Altair, Prof. Mahesh Panchagnula, Dean of Alumni and Corporate Relationship, IIT Madras, said, “We are delighted to partner with Altair. Together, we will be creating a lab that will be the nursery for the next generation of eMobility solutions. Partnerships such as this bring together industry and academic expertise – both increasingly essential ingredients for creating successful startups and ideas.”
