Hongqi L4 robotaxi earns unmanned driving license in Beijing
Date: January 02, 2024. — Hongqi, the automotive brand under FAW Group, proudly announced the successful completion of the unmanned driving test license examination for its third-generation L4 Robotaxi in the Beijing High-level Automated Driving Demonstration Area (BJHAD). This milestone makes Hongqi the first domestic automaker to secure certifications from both the BJHAD’s unmanned test and the T3-level automated driving examination in Beijing.
The comprehensive test consisted of 65 distinct scenarios, evaluating the L4 Robotaxi’s capabilities. The scenarios covered various situations such as intersection navigation, pedestrian interaction, and vehicle conflict resolution. The vehicle demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving a perfect success rate in every assigned task.
The third-generation Hongqi L4 Robotaxi is based on the E-HS9 model. It features advanced elements, including five millimeter-wave radars, seven cameras, and seven solid-state LiDAR units. The L4 Robotaxi incorporates remote control capabilities, redundant backup systems, and cloud-to-vehicle synchronization. It also aims to meet the technical requirements of the BJHAD. Leveraging the same platform as Hongqi’s mass-produced automobiles allows the vehicle to achieve L4 autonomous driving capability at a more affordable cost.
This achievement signifies a significant turning point for Hongqi and FAW Group. It establishes their leadership in the field of autonomous driving in Beijing. Hongqi has expressed its commitment to further refine algorithms and conduct independent research and development. Moreover, this is aimed at paving the way for the mass production of intelligent driving solutions.
