Bentley’s first EV to introduce hands-off self-driving technology

Bentley Motors has officially announced the release of its first-ever electric vehicle (EV), equipped with groundbreaking hands-off self-driving technology. Between 2025 and 2030, Bentley will release five electric vehicles as it transitions to an electric-only brand. The introduction of hands-off self-driving technology marks a significant milestone for the brand, as it aims to provide an enhanced and safer driving experience for its discerning customers.
Bentley’s next EV could be a sportier two-door coupe, despite the fact that it was first assumed that it would be a high-riding sedan or crossover. Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark claimed that Bentley’s first electric vehicle would have up to 1,400 horsepower and be able to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 1.5 seconds last year. Even in the electric age, such statistics for a crossover are improbable. It is still a chance, though. Additionally, Hallmark hinted to a “slower version” of Bentley’s first EV for buyers who feel the 1,400 hp model to be too fast.
The vehicle features a cutting-edge autonomous driving system that employs a variety of modern sensors, radar systems, and cameras. These components work together to provide a complete view of the vehicle’s surroundings, allowing it to easily navigate through traffic and manage difficult driving circumstances.
The hands-off self-driving feature allows passengers to give over control of the vehicle under certain settings, such as on highways and well-mapped city streets. The system maintains ongoing awareness of the road and nearby objects while engaged, delivering a high level of safety at all times. Drivers can take control of the car by seizing the steering wheel or utilising voice commands.
This autumn, Rolls-Royce, another renowned luxury brand from Britain also plans to introduce its first EV. The premium coupe known as the Spectre is built on the same chassis as the combustion-engined Phantom and Cullinan. The 120 kilowatt-hour batteries pack that power the Spectre’s dual motor setup. The electric two-door is advertised to have a 310-mile range. The Spectre is more than speedy enough with a 4.4 second 0-60 mph time and a top speed of 155 mph.
