Switzerland’s Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) is developing nationwide charging network. It is electrifying approximately 100 motorway rest areas. Primeo Energie and Alpiq E-Mobility have started developing charging stations on A2 motorway. These stations in addition to EV chargers will also have energy management solution, using ABB products and expertise.
50 kW Terra 54 charger which supports regular DC fast charging capabilities will be deployed. It supports simultaneous charging of two cars; one with DC fast charging and another vehicle with slower AC charging.
ABB fast charing 350kW high power DC charger with two charging ports for electric vehicles will also be used. It is capable of providing most vehicles up to 200km of range in as little as 8 minutes. ABB has also provided a 170kWh battery energy storage system (BESS) with a power output of 330kW to help decrease operating costs through peak-shaving and to enhance system availability and reliability. In addition, energy management is enabled by the cloud-based ABB AbilityTM Optimax.
