General Motors expands V2H capable EV lineup
Date: August 9, 2023. — General Motors (GM) has announced an expansion of its V2H (Vehicle-to-Home) capable electric vehicle lineup.
V2H technology empowers electric vehicles to draw grid power and also send energy back to residences and businesses. This is expected to play a crucial role in bridging the gap between energy generation and consumption. The function was initially solely promoted by General Motors on the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV RST. However, it now plans to use the technology in launching six different electric vehicle models.
The five more vehicles include the 2024 Cadillac Lyriq, 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV, and 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, in addition to the Silverado. General Motors will construct each car on the Ultium platform. This platform encompasses modular powertrains, software, and battery designs. The carmaker anticipates that all of its electric vehicles will come standard with bidirectional charging by 2026.
The concept is to simultaneously push and pull energy from electric automobiles using bidirectional charging equipment.
GM Energy unveiled two Ultium Home kits recently, the automaker’s energy offshoot, to enable V2H charging between an EV and a home. GM will disclose prices for these products later this year.
The company has been making significant strides in electric vehicle technology, battery innovation, and charging infrastructure to accelerate the global transition to cleaner transportation.
As the automotive industry evolves, General Motors stays at the forefront of sustainable mobility solutions. The latest expansion of its V2H-capable electric vehicle lineup demonstrates the company’s commitment to driving positive change in transportation and energy sectors.
