Cambridge Mobile Telematics unveils DriveWell fleet to transform commercial auto insurance

Press Release, 22 January 2026

Cambridge Mobile Telematics (CMT), one of the telematics providers, has introduced DriveWell Fleet, a new platform aimed at bringing comprehensive telematics data to the commercial auto insurance market. Built to give insurers a clearer, more complete view of driving behaviour across entire fleets, DriveWell Fleet combines data from connected vehicles with easy-to-install hardware for unconnected ones — helping close longstanding gaps in coverage and improve pricing precision.

DriveWell Fleet tackles three big challenges that have held back telematics in commercial insurance: coverage, data quality, and integration. For vehicles already equipped with telematics, the platform supports a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) model that links seamlessly with leading telematics service providers such as Samsara, Verizon Connect, Lytx, Netradyne, Linxup and GPS Insight, covering more than 80% of the connected commercial vehicle market today and expected to reach around 90% later this year. For vehicles without any connectivity, CMT offers proprietary Tag Pro and Tag Max hardware that sticks to the windshield and captures high-frequency driving data without requiring a phone, cellular plan or complex installation.

By standardizing and normalizing high-quality telematics data from both connected and unconnected sources, DriveWell Fleet gives insurers richer insights into risk, enabling more accurate risk segmentation, stronger underwriting decisions and fairer pricing models. The platform also simplifies onboarding and consent processes for fleets, reducing friction and making it easier for insurers to scale telematics usage across their entire book of business.

According to CMT co-founder and CEO William V. Powers, the company’s decade-long telematics expertise in personal auto insurance is now being extended to commercial fleets to make roads safer, support smarter pricing decisions, and ultimately improve outcomes for both insurers and fleet operators. With DriveWell Fleet, CMT is pushing telematics from a niche pricing tool to a core component of commercial auto insurance strategy, helping fleets boost safety while giving carriers the data they need to compete more effectively in a data-driven market.
