Zoomcar hosts earn ₹113 crore in 2024, turning idle cars into growing businesses
Press Release, 26 September 2025
Zoomcar Holdings, Inc. (OTCQX: ZCAR), India’s car-sharing marketplace, has released its Hosting Insights 2025, highlighting how ordinary car owners are transforming underused vehicles into steady income streams. In 2024 alone, Zoomcar hosts collectively earned ₹113 crore, powered by a community of 25,000 active hosts nationwide. What began as an experimental idea has now evolved into a mainstream source of income and micro-entrepreneurship.
According to the report, a typical car listed on Zoomcar generates between ₹25,000 and ₹30,000 per month—enough to cover an average car loan EMI of ₹18,000. New hosts typically receive their first booking within three to four days, ensuring quick returns. Encouraged by this success, many are scaling operations, with 12% of hosts now managing multiple vehicles. The platform has also witnessed strong growth in sign-ups, recording a 61% year-on-year increase.
The trend is spreading beyond metros into Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, where hosting is emerging as both a side hustle and a small business opportunity. In 2025 so far, 3,755 new cars have joined the platform, with 21% of these listings coming from smaller towns. Each active host completes around 60 bookings annually, contributing to a total of 173 million kilometres of shared travel in 2024. Features like Home Delivery further boost host earnings by up to 25%, catering to rising consumer demand for convenience.
A robust trust system supports this ecosystem, with 92% of hosts reporting positive guest behaviour and guests receiving an average rating of 4.5 out of 5. Backed by verified users, insurance-protected trips, and transparent ratings, Zoomcar ensures safety and reliability at scale.
“Car hosting is building real economic opportunity, fast,” said Abhilash Kasliwal, Business Head of Zoomcar. “It not only helps households offset EMIs but also enables thousands to become micro-entrepreneurs, expanding both mobility and opportunity.”
The report also highlights sustainability benefits, as shared vehicles reduce the need for new ownership while monetizing idle capacity—cars that otherwise remain unused 90% of the time. With peer-to-peer mobility gaining momentum, Zoomcar is positioning itself at the intersection of economic empowerment and sustainable transport.
