Xiaomi’s debut electric car SU7 draws 100,000 reservations
Date: March 15, 2024. — Xiaomi‘s electric vehicle SU7, has received good attention, with over 100,000 advance bookings. Xiaomi SU7 will be launched in China on March 28. Lei Jun, CEO, Xiaomi, emphasizing on the importance of smart technology as a differentiator for Xiaomi’s vehicles.
The SU7 is a full-size sedan with two powertrain options: rear-wheel drive with a 299 horsepower motor and all-wheel drive with a combined 673 horsepower. Moreover, potential drivers can choose between a 73.6 kWh battery or a larger 101 kWh battery, with the latter offering a claimed range of over 800 kilometers (around 500 miles) on a single charge. Claiming the SU7’s fast-charging capabilities, it can add 220 kilometers (137 miles) of range in just 5 minutes, boasting speed.
The interior of the SU7 appears to be tech-centric with a minimalist design. A large central touchscreen, a head-up display, and a driver-focused steering wheel dominate the driver’s view. Moreover, the infotainment system, fueled by Qualcomm and operating Xiaomi’s bespoke HyperOS, suggests an open avenue for forthcoming app creation. The SU7 also features hardware supporting autonomous driving functionalities, likely powered by it’s Pilot platform.
However, the vehicle will feature Xiaomi’s proprietary technologies. These include an E-Motor, CTB Integrated Battery, Xiaomi Die-Casting, Xiaomi Pilot Autonomous Driving, and Smart Cabin. Wth an investment of over CNY 10 billion RMB in R&D and a dedicated team of engineers and technical experts. It aims to make a significant impact on the EV market.
The anticipation for the SU7 is high, and the reservations milestone reflects the potential demand for the company’s approach to electric vehicles, which combines performance, technology, and ecosystem integration.
