Vishay unveils ESD protection diode

MALVERN, PA — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) has introduced a new Automotive Grade ESD protection diode designed for use in automotive Ethernet networks. The compact VETH100A1DD1, housed in a DFN1006-2B package with wettable flanks, caters to the growing demand for efficient transient voltage protection in high-speed data lines.

This diode is engineered to comply with OPEN Alliance 100Base-T1 and 1000Base-T1 specifications. It features a low clamping voltage of 31 V at 1 A, made possible through innovative snap-back technology with a trigger voltage exceeding 100 V. Its dynamic resistance is notably low at 0.4 W, enhancing its ESD absorption capability. Furthermore, with a maximum capacitance of 2 pF, the device ensures superior signal integrity, crucial for automotive and other high-tech applications.

The VETH100A1DD1 provides robust transient protection for data lines, meeting ISO 10605 and IEC 61000-4-2 standards withstanding ± 15 kV contact discharge for up to 1000 pulses. It is available in an AEC-Q101 version, supporting a working voltage of ± 24 V, making it suitable for diverse applications such as automotive systems, industrial automation, computing equipment, consumer electronics, and medical devices.

This diode is RoHS-compliant, halogen-free, and features a UL 94 V-0 flammability rating. It supports automated optical inspection, ensuring reliability in automotive environments. Vishay’s latest offering underscores its commitment to providing cutting-edge solutions tailored to modern industry needs.
